Chief Executive Officer
John McDonough brings 20+ years of human healthcare experience to VPP. He has focused his career on working with clinicians to bring exceptional care to patients while improving their care experiences – both hallmarks of VPP’s vision for becoming the premier employer of veterinary care professionals. John most recently spent nearly three years as EVP and chief financial officer at PharmScript Holdings, a long-term care pharmacy organization helping nursing home administrators integrate pharmacies directly into their facilities. During his tenure, he helped PharmScript double their pharmacies and develop/complete 50 short-term objectives which led to increased revenue and EBITDA. Before joining PharmScript, John worked for American Renal Associates, a healthcare service provider specializing in providing dialysis, most recently serving as chief operating officer. Prior to American Renal Associates, John served as chief accounting officer for DaVita Inc. where he led a 700-person accounting team and championed efforts that led to a 550% increase in stock price over a single year.
John earned his MBA from the Harvard School of Business and his bachelor’s degree from Bentley College. When he’s not working with his colleagues at the VPP office or visiting our hospitals, John splits his time between Maine and Florida.
