VPP Ranks in the 99th Percentile for Doctor Partner Satisfaction

Independently measured by Press Ganey, VPP’s doctor partner engagement and satisfaction score placed in the 99th percentile nationally for a fourth straight year — improving on its own score every year — with nearly twice as many partners responding as in 2023.

Veterinary Practice Partners scored in the 99th percentile nationally for doctor partner engagement and satisfaction in Press Ganey’s July 2026 survey. It is the fourth year running that VPP has placed in the top percentile, and it did so with a higher score than the year before and nearly twice as many partners responding as in 2023.

Press Ganey, the healthcare industry’s leading measurer of patient and workforce experience, benchmarked the result against its Ambulatory Care database of more than 84,000 respondents and 255 client organizations. A 99th percentile placement means VPP’s doctor partners rated their engagement and satisfaction above those at 99% of the organizations in that benchmark. VPP reached best-in-class four years ago and has scored higher every year since.

The score is the number VPP tracks most closely. Hospital count, headcount and states on a map are easier to grow and easier to report. Whether doctor partners are glad they partnered, and whether they plan to stay, is harder to move and easier to lose.

WHAT PRESS GANEY ACTUALLY MEASURES

Press Ganey builds the result from a six-item index. It asks respondents whether they intend to stay in the short term and in the long term, whether they would recommend the organization as a place to work, and whether they would recommend it as a place to receive care. Two further items cover pride in the organization and overall satisfaction with it.

That combination is what makes the index difficult to game. It measures satisfaction and commitment at the same time, so an organization cannot score at the top unless its people both like where they are and plan to stay.

VPP’s doctor partners said they intend to stay. They also said they would recommend VPP to a fellow veterinarian looking for a place to practice, and to a client looking for care for their pet. Those are two different endorsements, and the 2026 result carries both.

WHY FOUR YEARS OF CONSISTENCY MATTERS

When VPP first ran the survey in 2023, 125 doctor partners responded. This year, 248 did. A strong score from a small group is a promising signal. A strong score from twice as many people is a result. A score that rises while the panel doubles is a trend. The panel behind this year’s 99th percentile covers most of the partner community rather than a subset of it.

That community has grown considerably in the same window. VPP now partners with more than 330 doctor co-owners across more than 200 veterinary hospitals in 35 states, and works with over 700 doctors and more than 3,600 team members.

“Our mission is to keep veterinary medicine in the hands of veterinary professionals. Growth is easy to measure. Trust is the thing you can lose without noticing. We’ve added partners every year while staying focused on our mission, our values and our beliefs. Partnership is our model and it is also how we behave. We honor the doctors and the identity each hospital has already built. Watching these results improve as the number of partners answering nearly doubled tells us that focus is paying off.”

Matt Auron, Chief Culture Officer, Veterinary Practice Partners

As VPP moves into its next phase of growth, VPP intends to remain the partner of choice for veterinarians, and to keep doctor partner satisfaction as high as this year’s result shows it can be.
