Welcoming Caring Hands Animal Hospital – Tenleytown to the Veterinary Practice Partners Community!

Please join us in celebrating the official opening of Caring Hands Animal Hospital – Tenleytown, a newly opened De Novo veterinary hospital in Northwest Washington, DC, founded by Dr. Robert Cullen, Co-Owner and Medical Director, alongside Co-Owners Dr. Brian Neumann, Dr. Asia Campfield, Dr. Jeff Newman, and Dr. Michelle Vitulli.

Tenleytown is the tenth Caring Hands location and the first in Washington, DC, joining a network that has served families across Virginia and Maryland for more than three decades.

Tenleytown is also a De Novo build: new construction on a new site, not an existing practice that changed hands. That is where our partnership model comes in. VPP took on the site selection, capital, construction, and buildout so the doctors could stay focused on medicine and on the team they were assembling. They made the calls that shape how the hospital feels and functions, from the layout of the treatment area to the equipment in each room. The result is a hospital that belongs to them in every sense, and a path into ownership for newer partners who are now building a legacy under a brand Dr. Vitulli founded more than three decades ago.

“I’m thrilled to be realizing my dream of opening my own practice – partnership with VPP created the pathway and is supporting our long-term success. It’s exciting to reach this milestone as a veterinarian and as a business owner,” said Dr. Robert Cullen, Co-Owner and Medical Director.

Caring Hands Animal Hospital – Tenleytown is a full-service companion animal practice offering wellness and preventive care, dentistry, surgery, imaging, pain management, senior pet care, puppy and kitten care, and advanced inpatient care. The practice was designed around accessibility and comfort. Dogs and cats have separate spaces. Families can expect care plans shaped around each pet’s health needs, personality, and lifestyle.

Behind that approach is a deep bench of veterinarians. Dr. Robert Cullen brings special interests in wellness and preventive medicine, arthritic pain management, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery, along with a deep appreciation for the bond between families and their pets. Dr. Brian Neumann is a Bethesda native and Virginia-Maryland graduate focused on emergency medicine, geriatric care, dentistry, and ultrasound. Dr. Asia Campfield is a University of Wisconsin graduate whose interests include feline medicine, dermatology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Jeff Newman is an Auburn graduate with interests in emergency medicine, surgery, and shelter medicine. Dr. Michelle Vitulli, founder of Caring Hands Animal Hospital, is a Cornell graduate with interests in cardiology, internal medicine, and preventive care for senior pets. They are joined by Dr. Katherine LaPorta, Associate Veterinarian, a native Washingtonian and Cornell graduate who has spent more than 30 years caring for pets and their families in Washington, DC and Potomac, Maryland, with professional interests in preventive care, internal medicine, feline medicine, exotic animal medicine, and client education.

We are proud to support Dr. Cullen, Dr. Neumann, Dr. Campfield, Dr. Newman, Dr. Vitulli, and the entire Tenleytown team as they open their doors to the Northwest DC community. Please join us in congratulating them and welcoming Caring Hands Animal Hospital – Tenleytown to the VPP family as this new chapter begins.
