Located in Alpharetta, Georgia, Milton Animal Hospital is a brand-new, de novo hospital created in partnership with Owner and Medical Director Dr. Forester Gholston. This hospital represents what’s possible when experienced veterinarians are given the right support, resources, and autonomy to finally bring their vision of practice ownership to life.

A Path to Ownership That Wasn’t Previously Possible

Dr. Gholston has been practicing veterinary medicine for 15 years, building deep clinical expertise and strong relationships with clients and patients along the way. Like many seasoned veterinarians, he aspired to own his own practice—but traditional paths to ownership weren’t accessible within corporate medicine.

Through his partnership with VPP, Dr. Gholston was able to take that next step. Together, we built Milton Animal Hospital from the ground up, creating a practice that reflects his medical philosophy, his approach to patient care, and his long-term vision as a practice owner.

Built Around the Doctor, Not a Corporate Mold

Milton Animal Hospital is not a rebrand, acquisition, or retrofit of an existing space. It is a purpose-built hospital designed entirely around Dr. Gholston’s vision.

From the layout of the exam rooms and surgery suites to the flow of the hospital and medical equipment selection, every detail was customized. When VPP partners with veterinarians on de novo projects, doctors have a direct hand in designing how medicine is practiced in their space—because no two doctors, teams, or communities are the same.

Just as importantly, Milton Animal Hospital retains its own unique identity and branding. The practice is not absorbed into a corporate name or stripped of its local character. Maintaining individual branding and community connection is a cornerstone of VPP’s partnership model.

Unlocking Value Beyond the Build

VPP’s support went far beyond financing and construction. The property selected for Milton Animal Hospital was not initially zoned for veterinary use—a challenge that could have ended the project before it began.

Instead, VPP’s internal development team worked alongside architects and local officials, appearing before the municipality to successfully secure rezoning approval. This effort unlocked the opportunity to build a modern veterinary hospital in a prime location that otherwise would not have been possible.

Advanced Medicine, Delivered Locally

Milton Animal Hospital offers a full range of veterinary services, with a particular emphasis on advanced surgical care. Dr. Gholston has a strong interest in orthopedics and provides procedures such as TPLO surgery, an advanced orthopedic procedure that remains relatively rare in general practice settings.

This level of care allows pets in the Alpharetta community to access advanced treatment options close to home, without compromising on the personal, relationship-driven experience of a locally owned hospital.
